Fox River Blades

Brand Heritage

The Story

Fox River Blades was founded by knife maker Jaden Schubert, whose interest in building and creating started during childhood while constructing forts and shelters in the woods near his grandparents’ home. His fascination with tools and weapons, influenced by Japanese samurai and ninja culture as well as medieval knights, eventually led him to begin making his own knives using scrap materials.

Schubert began experimenting with knife making while working at a local Subway, saving money to purchase basic tools such as an angle grinder. Early attempts were made using scrap metal found on his grandparents’ farm, while he spent hours watching knife making videos online to learn techniques and improve his skills.

During this period, knife making became both a creative outlet and a way to cope with personal hardship following the death of his father. Encouraged by Rich Stadler, owner of BilletSpin, Schubert began sharing his knives on Instagram. Shortly after posting his work online, he sold one of his first pieces, marking the beginning of what would become Fox River Blades.

For several years Schubert continued making and selling knives while working other jobs and learning machining skills at a local machine shop. After a serious car accident that left him paralysed, he spent months in recovery and physical therapy before returning to knife making.

In April 2024, Schubert relaunched Fox River Blades as a fully structured business. One of the early products released after this restart was the knife model known as the “Fennec,” which was developed through more than ten prototypes as he focused on improving design, fit, finish, and overall quality.
